Summary
Born in the Canadian West before settlement, Fine Day (Kamiokisekwew) (1856-1942) lived well into modern times. During his remarkable life he became Head Warrior of the Rattler Society, defeated Canadian soldiers at Cut Knife Hill in 1885, and then defied Canadian authorities in the 1890s by holding the first of his eight Sun Dances. In old age, he became the main informant for Dr.David G. Mandelbaum's classic book on Cree culture
